Hello and welcome to my site!
I am a singer and songwriter, born just outside Wellington, New Zealand, and brought up in West Oxfordshire. After 6 years in Liverpool, I now live in rural North Lincolnshire.
I graduated from LIPA in 2003 with a Performing Arts/Music degree, and since then I have been very happily touring with The Australian Pink Floyd Show, as a backing vocalist. I've been lucky enough to travel with them all over the place, singing on tours of the U.K., Germany, Italy, America, Canada and South America, and at various festivals in Malta, Holland, Belgium, Portugal and Sweden.
Over the past five years I've been writing and developing my own songs, and have been working with great musicians based in Liverpool and London. My latest project is a new demo, including some my favourite songs - a mixture of standards and rock/pop, with one original for good measure - so please check out the 'Listen' page to hear the songs!
I have always loved to sing, and I like to believe that it shows in my voice, my songs and my performance. Before training at LIPA I lead my own choir and have also taught singing, mainly in primary schools, as a freelance tutor/musician, running workshops and generally having fun making music. This is something I would like to continue.
I have many different influences, my taste ranges from Led Zeppelin to Nina Simone, Diana Krall to Ben Folds, Jill Scott to Joni Mitchell; I've never been able to name my favourite song or vocalist! (However, my favourite guitarist has to be the mighty Jimmy Page...) I can't really put a genre on my music but I could describe it vaguely in three - jazzy, acoustic, soul. My voice is fairly deep, warm, and natural, and the songs have emotional lyrics and nice melodies. The people I work with tend to add their own twist to the music. Have a listen to decide for yourself! I hope you enjoy my site , and if you do maybe I'll see you at a gig sometime...
